
Yuma, AZ – On Sunday, April 26, 2026, at approximately 4:11 AM, the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) responded to a report of a single vehicle collision in the 14500 Block of S. Avenue A.
According to information released by Tania Pavlak, Public Affairs Specialist with the YCSO, the initial investigation revealed that a 2021 Kia Forte LXS was traveling northbound on Avenue A when, for unknown reasons, it veered off the roadway and collided with an electrical pole. The vehicle then became airborne, rolled over twice, and came to rest in an orchard.
Somerton/Cocopah Fire Department responded and the driver was pronounced deceased on scene.
The driver was identified as a 16-year-old female from Yuma, Arizona. Next of kin notification has been made.
This case remains under investigation at this time. Speed appears to be a factor in this collision.
