The Yuma Fire Department has introduced its new Ladder Tender—a specialized support vehicle that enhances efficiency and safety for the ladder company.
Carrying many of the same tools as a traditional ladder truck but without the aerial ladder, the Ladder Tender allows crews to handle smaller or routine calls—like medical assists, alarms, and public service incidents—without deploying the larger, heavier truck.
This approach reduces fuel use, maintenance, and response risks while keeping the aerial ladder ready for structure fires, rescues, and other major emergencies. It’s another step in YFD’s ongoing commitment to safety, efficiency, and fiscal responsibility.
